My name is Tom Dolan and I am the founder and CEO of The Benchmarking Exchange, Inc., best known as BenchNet, the world’s largest online benchmarking collaboration and research network. The Benchmarking Exchange, Inc. is a privately held class-C corporation based in Aptos, California.
Since 1992 our service has been recognized as the leader in providing online tools for organizations involved in benchmarking. BenchNet was initially developed to support process improvement research and collaboration for AT&T, DuPont, EDS, GM, Amdahl, IBM, and Xerox. It grew from a handful of users in 1992 to more than 25,000 users today.
BenchNet also develops internal process improvement systems and internal self-assessment systems for organizations such as the Department of Energy, American Express, Corning and the Department of Defense, to name a few.
Our success has been in providing an online fee-based forum for professionals to learn from and share with others involved in benchmarking activities. Our members come from virtually every industry and from all corners of the world.
Another indicator of our success is that for the past eight years all major search engines show BenchNet listed on their first page by organic placement and not by paid-for placements; meaning we are on page one of Google (29,900,000 hits), Yahoo (11,300,000 hits), Bing (10,600,000 hits) when searching with the term “benchmarking”. Since we are placed organically BenchNet will have a very good chance of being on page one for a very long time.
BenchNet is cloud hosted on Microsoft Server Platforms based in California and is maintained remotely from anywhere in the world over the Internet.
After nearly 20 years of developing and maintaining BenchNet, it’s time for me to start thinking about retirement and find someone to take the BenchNet baton. I am looking for a buyer to take over the operation of BenchNet sometime before 2014. This would be a perfect fit for a Consultancy offering business process improvement services. A good fit for a large organization with existing or planned internal benchmarking resources to have a full-service inhouse platform with level access for the public. Or, an individual like me who can multitask and understands the process improvement audience and has enough energy to keep up with BenchNet and take it forward. The hard part is already done, now all that is needed is someone to manage the service.
Please contact me if you are interested in discussing this opportunity further. All correspondence will be kept in the strictest confidence.
Regards,
Tom Dolan
